An ancient art of Chinese origin, Feng Shui is based on the notion of “conscious occupation” of one’s environment. It is the art of space planning – whether interior (house) or exterior (garden) – by identifying and optimizing the flow of Qi (natural energy flow). Feng Shui is both a capacity for observing nature and a practice aimed at improving the living environment. By respecting its principles, we seek to create harmony which would have a positive influence.
The art of Feng Shui
Literally translated as “wind” (Feng) and “water” (Shui), Feng Shui is a dynamic energy flow .
Feng | Shui | Feng+Shui |
" wind " | " water " | |
Vector of Qi (vital energy) | Attractive force which has the power to collect, conserve and concentrate Qi | Complementarity and interaction of the diffusion and concentration of Qi |
Invisible force that transports and diffuses vital energy | Adaptability, transformation, ability to attract and retain positive energy in a place | Dynamic energy flow: vital energy is continually moving but also nourished |
It is based on two fundamental principles: the balance between opposing forces (Yin and Yang) and the interaction of the five natural elements (wood, fire, earth, metal, water) which must be present together in harmonious proportions.
Balance between Yin and Yang
Yin | Yang |
Passivity, Darkness, Cold, Receptivity, Feminine | Activities, Clarity, Warmth, Generosity, Masculine |
Relaxes, opens the mind, stimulates the imagination, creative side, flexible | Active, precise, assured, tense, fast |
Theory of the 5 elements
Elements | Symbolic |

FIRE | Expansion and transformation |
EARTH | Stability and food |

Sense organ | View | Taste | To touch | Smell | Hearing |
From these balances, from this good circulation, will flow a positive attitude, thoughts and emotions, linked to our health, our intimate and professional life.
Feng Shui at Domaine le Coq enchanté
It was during trips to Asia that Anne-Sophie, owner and creator of Le Coq enchanté, discovered and learned the art of Feng Shui.
When she imagined and designed the Estate as a true haven of peace dedicated to well-being, it was quite natural that she chose to apply the principles of harmony and energy balance of Feng Shui.
A spiritual and aesthetic approach
At Domaine du Coq enchanté, everything has been meticulously thought out to promote relaxation and serenity for guests.
The living rooms have been arranged to allow energy to circulate freely. The choice of colors, materials, furniture, decorative elements... is based on the balance between the forces of Yin and Yang and on the harmony between the five elements.
Not limited to physical layout, the art of Feng Shui also influences the atmosphere of spaces. At the Domaine, particular care has been taken with sounds and silences, soft and natural lighting, and even smells (scented candles, fireplace, flowers, etc.), creating a setting that is both relaxing and energizing.
The garden: a natural Feng Shui space
At the heart of the garden: the soothing presence of water forming a meditation pool. All around, sinuous paths allowing the harmonious diffusion of Qi, species of trees and flowers chosen for their singularity, their shape, their color or their scent, a peaceful view of the landscape. The Garden of the Enchanted Rooster invites contemplation, to take your time, to breathe, to relax and to reconnect with nature. Relaxation areas have also been set up in strategic locations. Open to nature, but protected, they offer an intimate and calm atmosphere.
A place of rejuvenation
Thanks to her Feng Shui approach, Anne-Sophie has made the Domaine a welcoming and balanced place where every detail contributes to the feeling of well-being, where everyone can recharge their batteries and find inner peace. Visitors leave the place with a feeling of renewal, revitalized by the positive energy that circulates throughout the spaces.
Far from being a simple method of decoration, Feng Shui turns out to be a true philosophy of life, and at the Domaine, it becomes an experience in its own right, serving the well-being of guests.
